Kathryn Roberts MSN, BSN, RN-BC, CHSE received her Master's in Nursing from Texas Tech Health Science Center in 2017. She was also awarded her Bachelor of Nursing from the same institution. She has been awarded several certifications during her nursing career in trauma nursing and stroke assessment. Ms. Roberts has a true passion for nursing, education, and simulation training. She started her nursing career as a rehab nurse and continued working in the medical-surgical units and emergency room for several large institutions within Houston. During her time there, she became an active member of the education committee and coached and mentored other staff and students. During her time as a clinical nurse, she assumed the roles of preceptor, education resource coordinator, new hire orientation presenter, and curriculum developer. When she became an educator in 2018, she taught various critical care and ventricular assistive device classes. She became involved in simulation training and is now the Supervisor of her education department’s simulation lab, The Mary E. Mahoney Simulation Center. Ms. Roberts has also participated as co-lead in other initiatives such as quality improvement programs for preventing infections, developed and taught curriculum and training at multiple campuses and their instructors. During the COVID outbreak, she developed and participated in the essential labor pool training and co-led the crucial ECMO COVID Training for critical care nurses.
